In a classroom setting, students learn the aspects of patient care with a focus on introductory concepts, patient care safety, providing care, special care situations, professional and career development.
Under the leadership of a clinical instructor, through in-person practice students learn resident care procedures (RCPs) such as: personal care bathing, grooming, feeding positioning and transferring the patient, and using various tools to take vital signs.
This component of the clinical training places students to work directly with residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Upon completion of the classroom and clinical training, participants can apply to take their state exam in Indiana.
