Program Requirements

To enroll, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Hold a high school diploma or GED certificate. Diplomas earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated and translated by an approved credential evaluation agency.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Pass a criminal background check (included in tuition).

Additionally, applicants must provide:

  • Recent Physical and Tuberculosis Screening. A current chest x-ray is required for positive TB test results.

  • Hepatitis B Immunity Documentation: Either proof of the full vaccine series (three doses) or a Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Test (titer) confirming immunity.

  • Drug and Alcohol Screening.

  • Two forms of valid identification.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

The Indy Institute Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Program is a comprehensive training designed to equip students with the clinical and administrative skills needed to excel in healthcare 

Medical Assistants perform various clinical tasks, including assisting doctors, nurses,  helping with medication administration and minor procedures, running EKG tests, collecting lab specimens for analysis, and teaching patients about their health.

This 13-week program combines in-depth lectures, engaging discussions, extensive hands-on lab practice, and real-world clinical experience through an externship. Upon successful completion, participants will be eligible to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Once certified, you’ll be qualified to work as a clinical medical assistant in physician offices, hospitals, urgent care centers, specialty clinics, outpatient facilities, and other healthcare settings nationwide!

What You’ll Learn:

  • Master essential clinical skills including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and assisting with examinations and minor procedures
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and foundational science that forms the basis of patient care
  • Develop proficiency in point-of-care testing and laboratory procedures, including specimen collection, handling, and proper documentation
  • Build strong communication and customer service skills for effectively interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams in diverse clinical settings
  • Learn administrative functions such as scheduling, maintaining medical records, insurance processing, and coordinating patient care to keep medical offices running smoothly
  • Follow strict infection control, safety protocols, and medical law and ethics to ensure patient safety and maintain HIPAA compliance in all healthcare environments
  • Excel in patient education and care coordination by teaching patients about treatments, medications, and wellness while working with pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
